At ACF | laketravis, we talk about BE-COMING all that the Lord has for us. When we BE-COME, we grow. And that’s we are called to do…to grow up in our faith.
The other day, Teddy was messing around in my closet and put on one of my coats. It didn’t look right because it didn’t fit. He hasn’t grow up enough. In your spiritual journey with the Lord, are you BE-COMING; are you growing up? Having a church full of adults in coats that don’t fit doesn’t look right. Jesus CAME so we could BE-COME.
Here are some simple points I have learned about BE-COMING:
1. It’s a process. God can do the instant transformation. No question. But His preferred method is a process. BE-COMING is a process… and often a long process. BE-COMING is the process of growing up in Christ.
2. It takes personal responsibility. Learning to feed yourself and grow takes a high level of personal responsibility. That doesn’t discredit teaching and mentorship. Is there a place and value to teaching? Yes. But this is not an either/or but more of a both/and. Learn to feed yourself while you learn from others that are further along than you.
3. It takes participation. You grow in community. Community involves participation. Isolation never works. Get FULLY involved and part of a community…and you will grow. Are you personally connected and actively involved in community?
4. There is a cost. BE-COMING costs. What costs you nothing ends up worth nothing. The higher your desired result, the higher the cost. Have you considered the costs? And are you willing to pay the price?
The greatest joy we can have on this earth is the process of BE-COMING more like Christ.
